Camps on Skidaway Island

Looking for a great camp on Skidaway Island for your children or grandchildren? Look no further! Below is a list of camps in or around Skidaway Island!

  1. Marine Science Camp
The UGA Marine Education Center and Aquarium has been providing science day camps every summer since 1993. Our camps allow kids to grow up learning about the Georgia Coast. Our Summer Marine Science Camp (SMSC) sessions emphasize marine science and coastal ecology while nurturing the curiosity and stewardship potential in each child.

We offer informal, team oriented, memorable camp experiences that balance detailed study with exploration and the opportunity to make new friends. Each SMSC session is designed to meet the learning stages and styles of kids ages 6-14.

Camp sessions include explorations of the salt marsh, live animal lessons (marine invertebrates, fish and coastal reptiles), maritime forest hikes, crabbing from the dock and more. Information about each session is provided below.

Low student to staff ratios ensure personal attention and mentoring for your camper. Summer camp staff includes UGA marine education faculty, marine education fellows and summer interns. Camp sessions are high energy, chock full and lots of fun!

On select days through the summer the Skidaway Island State Park holds Junior Ranger Camps.  Children from 6 to 12 are invited to join park rangers for a fun week of hikes, crafts, games, and more focused on the natural and cultural heritage of Georgia. During the week children will complete activities to earn a Junior Ranger badge. Please call the Visitors Center to sign up. Space is limited.

Each child will need to bring a lunch, snack, refillable water bottle, and sunblock. This day camp is Monday through Friday. Drop off will be 8:30 – 9:00, and pick-up will be 4:00 – 4:30 each day.
