Hands-On Indigo Dyeing : Ossabaw Island Indigo Day Trips
September 17, 2021 @ 8:30 am - September 26, 2021 @ 2:30 pm
In the late 18th century Ossabaw Island was a working indigo plantation. Indigo still grows on Ossabaw Island’s north end today.
Join us for a daytrip on Ossabaw. We will share with us the history of indigo, teach us how to create our own dye vats and guide us through the dyeing process. All workshop participants will recieve a custom designed t-shirt to dye. Please bring your own natural fabric or yarn that you would like to dye indigo blue!
Fees include, round trip transportation from Delegal Creek Marina to Ossabaw Island’s North End; indigo workshop, t-shirt. This trip is designed for adults and for children age 12 and over. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or supervising adult.
Note: Social distancing and sanitization protocols have been incorporated into the programming, including reduction of the total number of participants. All Ossabaw Island trips require use of masks/protective face coverings during check in, on the boat to and from the island, in the trucks on the island, and when indoors in common spaces. Other social distancing and sanitization practices will apply. (These requirements reflect the CDC guidelines and Chatham County mask ordinance. If these requrements change, we will notify all who are registered.)
